Workplace Violence and Harassment Prevention

This Workplace Violence and Harassment Prevention training module provides all Ontario Tech University employees with information and instruction on workplace violence and harassment policies and programs as mandated by the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act. The module that follows will give you the information you need in order to understand violence in the workplace and give you strategies to protect yourself. The material covered in this training session meets the requirements as set out by the Act.

Who is required to take this training? Training mandatory for all full-time and limited-term employees.
Learning Objectives

Upon completion of Workplace Violence and Harassment Prevention, participants will be able to:

  • Learn how workplace violence and harassment are defined by Ontario Legislation and University policy.
  • To provide information on workplace violence harassment prevention.
  • Understand how to recognize the types and sources of workplace violence and harassment.
  • Learn preventative measures and basic crisis prevention.
  • Learn how to stay safe and what to do if you experience or witness violent behaviours.

Training Frequency:

This training must be completed within the first 4 weeks of hire.

Training renewal does not have a specific time period or expiry date. Re-training will be required if any of the following occurs:

  • Someone demonstrates a lack of understanding or knowledge about Workplace Violence and Harassment Prevention Training
  • There is new information available
