Environmental, Health and Safety
Mission
Ontario Tech University has a vital interest in the health and safety of its employees, students, visitors and contractors. The prevention of occupational illness or injury is a major continuing objective and the university will make every reasonable effort to provide and maintain a safe and healthy work and learning environment. As a minimum standard, the university shall comply with all statutory requirements, including the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Environmental Protection Act, and other applicable federal, provincial, and local statutes and by-laws.
How to report an illness
- Illnesses that impact remote or in-person attendance should be reported to an employee's direct supervisor or student's course instructor for further academic direction.
- If an illness is related to COVID-19, other respiratory or infectious disaes, employees and students should remain off campus and refer to the COVID-19 Update-Region of Durham and/or Self-assessment (ontario.ca) for further information.
