Ergonomic assessments can assist in identifying risks associated with improper equipment use, repetitive tasks and poor workstation set-up. Ontario Tech University’s Health and Safety Officer can recommend changes to your workstation which can be taken into consideration when working on-campus or from your home office.

What is involved in an ergonomics assessment?
- An employee’s job duties, workstation layout, tools and equipment used as well as the way in which the worker performs their duties will be taken into consideration.
- An on-campus visit will be arranged and if needed, a virtual assessment can be conducted of an employee’s home office.

What types of recommendations can be made through an ergonomics assessment?
- Recommendations can be made to adjust the lay-out of a workspace as well as the design.
- Assessing how the worker approaches their work duties will aid in identifying ways to optimize both the health of the worker and their performance.

What if I require specialized equipment or a workplace accommodation as a result of an ergonomics assessment?
