Lab Safety for Non-Lab Workers

The Lab Safety for Non-Lab Workers document provides essential safety information for employees who may need to enter or work near laboratories but are not laboratory staff nor familiar with the associated hazards.

The goal is to:

•Increase awareness of potential hazards in laboratories
•Clarify the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
•Outline emergency procedures
•Provide information on relevant Ontario regulations that identify the need to control, monitor and record entry to certain labs
•Clarify the intent of “restricted access”
