Environmental, health and safety

Ontario Tech University has a vital interest in the health and safety of its employees, students, visitors and contractors. The prevention of occupational illness or injury is a major continuing objective and the university will make every reasonable effort to provide and maintain a safe and healthy work and learning environment. As a minimum standard, the university shall comply with all statutory requirements, including the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Environmental Protection Act, and other applicable federal, provincial, and local statutes and by-laws.

Report a Workplace Accident, Injury, Hazard or Near Miss

If you require medical assistance, contact the Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) via Security by phoning 905.721.3211 or ext. 2400 from any campus phone.

All workplace accidents, injuries, hazards, and near misses, regardless of severity, must be reported using our Accident Injury and Hazard/Near Miss Reporting Forms within 24-hours of occurrence.

Report an illness

Illnesses that impact remote or in-person attendance should be reported to an employee's direct supervisor or student's course instructor for further academic direction.
